iMPore develops and sells products to reduce the time and cost of biomedical research and drug development. SiMPore is commercializing a novel membrane technology that is 1,000 times thinner than conventional membranes with dramatically improved performance in biomolecule separation and purification, processes vital to drug discovery and development. SiMPore's membranes make possible simple, fast, low-cost consumable devices for research and development processes such as protein and small molecule separations as well as high throughput screening of drug compound interactions. Existing separation technologies while often precise are complex and not easily adapted to small-volume high-density arrays that can save both time and resources.
SiMPore's first products are research tools for separation and purification of biological materials as well as membrane-supported cell culture assays. Estimated addressable life science research markets total $350 million. In partnership with companies in the field, SiMPore will develop high throughput screening products and assay derivatives of its research tools for the drug discovery pipeline to reduce the time and cost of bringing new drugs to market. This is a multi-billion dollar market opportunity.
SiMPore's May 2008 financing supported scale-up from lab to production, introduction of electron microscopy products, and development of first generation life science research tools. 2009 sales were $85,000 and we project 2010 revenue of $250,000. We are seeking $600,000 to $1 million that will fund marketing of cell culture and separation products, recruit sales, marketing and development professionals and provide working capital.
